Today was a big day for Andrea McLean as she returned to Loose Women following a number of week’s off due to having a hysterectomy.
Andrea seemed emotional as she admitted thats she will never be able to have children with her husband of two years Nick Feeney.
Andrea who seemed fine on the show today got a little teary after having a month off due to the recovery from the operation.
‘It’s just coming up to six weeks now, there’s physical things to get over but my biggest fear was mentally falling over a cliff because that’s menopause,’
‘My life is really great at the moment and I didn’t want to do anything to spoil it but luckily apart from a couple of hormonal moments, touch-wood its fine.’
McLean admitted that her hubby had been beyond fabulous,’ both before and after her operation
She continued to say:
‘I was being brave for him,’ ‘As we went down (to the operating theatre) he waved goodbye and I started crying. I said to the nurse “This is like Green Mile.”
Then talking about having the anaesthetic she said:
‘I’m not great with anaesthetic, my whole body was shaking and convulsing,’ she recalled. ‘I literally came round and it was just like that.
‘I was very very cold and that took a while to wear off. My teeth were clenching and then I felt very sick, very very nauseous.’
She then said on the show Monday afternoon:
‘I played everything down… but as a woman I’ve had my engine removed,’ she said. ‘I had endometriosis and that’s why I took the decision; it can spread and it had spread to my bladder and large intestine.
‘It takes a long time to get over that, let alone having your engine removed.’
It must have been so hard for all the whole family but we bet they both are glad that it is all over with.
