This is his first year back presenting the show after he was replaced last year by Caroline Flack and Olly Murs but now Dermot O’Leary has admitted that he fell out with Simon Cowell over the show format.
Talking on Lorraine on Thursday morning Dermot said:
‘We were talking about my contract and I told him I didn’t like it. He said he loves that I don’t like it and he told me he’s still going to do it.’
The Lorraine Kelly asked him about Simon and he replied:
‘He has relaxed over time. He’s happy to see me unhappy.
‘He rarely says anything mean these days or in the last five years. He’s a warmer beast than people think. His reputation is unfair.’
Dermon then continued to say that he never watches the show back:
‘I never watch it back because it already takes up four days a week out of my life so I don’t want to watch it on my day off.
‘Sometimes you think something went well and then when you watch it back, you realise that it actually didn’t go that well.’
We don’t blame him.
We have to say getting rid of him from the show was the worse choice Simon could have made but we are so glad that he is back.
