BBC have decided to scrap Crimewatch after a whopping 33 years on our TV screens.
The show’s viewing figures have been getting smaller and smaller over the last few years so the BBC decided to have Jeremy Vine as host but it seems that he couldn’t even boost the ratings.
BBC have now said that they want to spend the money on making other dramas instead of spending it on the crime show.
a spokesperson for the BBC has said:
“We believe the successful Crimewatch Roadshow format in daytime is the best fit for the brand going forward and we will increase the number of episodes to make two series a year.
“We are incredibly proud of Crimewatch and the great work it has done over the years and the work Crimewatch Roadshow will continue to do, and this move will also allow us to create room for new innovative programmes in peak time on BBC One.”
We have to say we wasn’t expecting this and it really is a real shame.
