So sad.

Ruth Langsford had an extremely hard year last year.

The TV presenter has admitted that she nearly quit TV after he sister Julie committed suicide last year after suffering from a terminal illness in June 2019.

The ITV host told viewers her sister had died ‘after a long illness’, with an inquest later ruling she had died by suicide.

Speaking to Best Magazine, the wife of Eamonn Holmes said:

‘It seemed wrong to be cheery on screen, when, inside, my heart was breaking.’

Ruth has said that it was Eamonn who encouraged her to go back to work in memory of Julia, after she admitted she had ‘no motivation or desire’ to be in the public eye.

Ruth then continued:

‘Eamonn pointed out that he was, in effect, losing not one, but two of the most precious people in his life – Julia and me. He showed me how I had so much to live for in Julia’s memory – and beyond.’

‘He pleaded with me not to let it win, by ruining everything I had achieved – and still had to celebrate.’

Ruth only had a week off from hosting This Morning after her sisters death with Eamonn retuning immediately as he co-hosted the show with Rylan Clark -Neal.
