The show what is hosted by Phillip Shcofield and Holly Willoughby Monday to Thursday and Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford Friday’s only has Alison Hammon who stands in for when the presenters are ill and often films on location but now it seems like they want a black presenter all the time.
In a video conference call with staff last week, the programmers’ editor Martin Frizell said:
‘There is not a black presenter on any of the programmes today.
‘We plan to change that, we [This Morning] are looking into it.’
Martin admitted that finding a black candidate ‘won’t be easy’ and while there is no suggestion that either Holly Willoughby or Phillip Schofield are leaving, there will inevitably be speculation that the move could bring an end to their 11-year partnership on This Morning.
Just before the lockdown hit Holly scaled back her work load with ITV as she had been making TV shows for the BBC.
It was only last month when Holly announced that she was quitting ITV2’s Celebrity Juice after 12 years and will star alongside Bradley Walsh on Take Off, a new BBC series that airs later this year.
A ITV source has said:
‘It’s a tough one for Martin. He appeared to really mean what he said so it will be difficult to simply give the presenter the once-a-week Friday slot because he would leave himself open to claims of tokenism.’
We wonder who they would you have on the show?
Personally we think Alison should present the show more, she’s so popular with the viewers and a lovely lovely lady.
