MTV bosses have confirmed that Mike Thalassitis was filmed for the new series of Ex On The Beach before his passing last weekend.
Mike was going to be a contestant on the reality show as it was filmed last September but now with his death it’s been announced that this years series is going to be canceled, out of respect for Mike’s family and friends.
In a statement shared to the Mail Online MTV said:
‘We were very sad to hear the tragic news about Mike Thalassitis and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
‘Last year, Mike took part in filming for the next series of Ex on the Beach, which was due to air on MTV later in the year.
‘In light of the news of Mike’s death, we have decided not to broadcast the planned tenth season of the show.’
On Loose Women today Pete Wicks appeared on the show to give an update on how his ex-girlfriend Megan McKenna is doing after it was announced the weekend that former boyfriend Mike Thalassitis had taken his own life.
Megan was meant to appear on the show with Pete to talk about the final week of Celebs Go Dating when the producers decided to get Pete to talk about men’s mental health.
Pete said on Tuesday afternoon that he had spoken to Mega since the news broke as he said:
‘I’ve spoken to her very briefly and I think Megan needs time to process what’s happened it was a big shock for everyone, especially for Megan. She’ll be OK it’s tough for anyone to deal with’.
Then talking about finding out that Mike had passed away he continued to say:
‘On Saturday night, I was out with friends. It was such a tragic thing to happen to anyone who is in public eye hard for his family my thoughts go out to his family’.
Speaking on men dealing with mental health as a man in the public eye, he went on: ‘When people see people in the public eye, it’s very glamorous life, you’re living your best life… but you never know what’s going on in closed doors…
He then continued to say:
‘Everyone has their struggles and it becomes more shocking when it’s everyone who knows nationally. I’ve dealt with that myself anything you go through you put yourself in TV where everyone can judge you for everything…
‘You do not necessarily something should happen when you have to go through anything on social media it’s heightened and escalated it has a different effect’.
