With the new series of Springwatch starting this week on BBC 2 fans of the how have noticed that someone is missing.
With Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Gillian Burke back hosting the show Martin Hughes-Games is missing but why is he not on the show.
It was last year when Martin announced that he will no longer be apart of the show as he stepped down as host and Steve Backshall will be taking over.
Martin took to his Twitter account and said:
“After 12 great years I have decided to leave the watches. “It’s good to go when the show is looking strong. MASSIVE thank you for yr support. [sic]”
Co-presenter Chris has been speaking about working with Martin for so many years and said:
“I am staying put. I’m going to miss Martin a lot.
“He’s an extraordinary man. He’s witty, he’s funny, he’s clever.”
“He knows a lot about wildlife. He’s extremely passionate and I will miss him.”
He really is missed and we have to say the show simply isn’t the same without him.
The wait is over!
Yearly wildlife show Springwatch is back tonight on BBC 2 and we can’t wait to see what this years series unfolds.
From Polecats to Tadpoles the show is bound to have it all and no doubt Hosts Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Gillian Burke will be showing all the footage filmed with hundreds of cameras catching every moment what the british wildlife give us.
Springwatch is on BBC 2 tonight, nightly for the next three weeks
Martin Hughes-Games has decided it’s time to leave Springwatch after 12 years on the show.
Martin broke the news on Twitter by saying that he wanted to leave the show as he feels it’s ‘good to go now’.
Taking to Twitter Martin shared:
“After 12 great years I have decided to leave the watches.
“It’s good to go when the show is looking strong. MASSIVE thank you for yr support. (sic)”
The tweet was then followed with massive amounts of support from the loyal viewers of the show.
He will be missed.
He’s the presenter of Springwatch and Autumwatch but now Chris Packham has it out at I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here as he branded them ‘abusive’ to animals.
Chris took to his Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon when he shared an article about the latest celebrities to enter the jungle when he gave his opinion about the ITV show.
If I was wildlife I’d be getting the hell out of there . More abuse to ensue I’m sure . . .
Well she does love nature.
Kate Humble the former presenter of Springwatch has said that she loves getting naked on the beach and would love a naked TV show to air!
Humble has said that she strips off when she’s at her French holiday home and “hardly ever” wears clothes there.
She confessed that she feels people have become “obsessed” with nudity in a “weird, unhealthy way”.
Humble said recently:
“I’ve stripped off loads of times on camera when there are reasons for it. I don’t know why we haven’t done Nude Watch yet.
“We have a shack in France by a lake and I hardly ever wear clothes when we’re there and I swim naked.”
Kate then talked about how one time herself and her husband TV producer Ludo Graham, danced naked in a desert as she continued to say:
“My husband and I danced naked in the desert in Jordan once. If you can’t get your kicks in that innocent, joyful way, then the world is not a good place.”
We can see her concept but would love to see the rights to air a programme like that on national television without turning it into Geordie Shore.
If you’re a regular to watching Springwatch you will know that normally presenting the show is Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, Martin Hughes-Games but this series what started on Monday you would have seen a new presenter called Gillian Burke.
If you’re wondering who Gillian is well she’s a Biologist and filmmaker who made an appearance on the show last year and now has been made a permanent member of the team.
She was born outside Nairobi, Kenya and lived a life as “very happily feral” as she would kick her shoes off and go and play outside with none on.
It was in September of 2016 when it was reported that Martin Hughes-Games has been axed from the show because he is white and middle-class and the BBC wanted more diversity among its presenters.
Gillian admitted that she was ‘horrified’ when it was reported that she was breaking up the Springwatch family.
As she said:
“A friend texted me one Monday morning saying I was in the papers. Can you imagine the horror for me of apparently busting into the party and being blamed for breaking it up?
“I can totally understand why people would want to know where I’ve come from; the perception is that I’ve just shown up. But I’ve been doing this a long time.”
Lets hope that she fits in well with the team so far we have to say we are liking her.
